PSA: That 'simple' coax run in a 1920s house took me 8 hours.

Got a job in the old part of town. Customer wanted a line to the back bedroom. Figured it would be a quick attic drop. Found the walls were full of old plaster and horsehair insulation, plus a weird fire block I'd never seen. Ended up having to fish from the basement up an exterior wall. Used almost a whole box of glow rods. Started at 9 AM, finished the one drop at 5 PM. Anyone else have a nightmare with those really old houses? What's your trick?

Oh man, that sounds brutal! What did that weird fire block end up being made of?

Weird fire block makes me wonder if it was some kind of leftover industrial stuff.

Was it really that hard to drill through?
