Question about new builds and that dang low voltage plate they always put in the wrong spot

So I was on a new construction job in Mesa last Tuesday and the GC had the low voltage plate set 14 inches off the floor behind where the couch was gonna go. Three years ago this same builder let us pick the spot before drywall went up, now they just slap it anywhere. I spent 40 minutes fishing a new line through a fire block because nobody asked us first. Any of you guys got a trick for getting in on the framing walk before the sheetrock crew beats you there?
