Question about wall fish rods and when they actually flex too much
I was swapping out a run at this old apartment complex downtown last week and had to go up from the basement through a fire stop. My fish rod bent so bad I thought it was gonna snap. I always figured stiffer meant better but then this old sparky I ran into at the supply house told me sometimes you want a little flex to get around those tight corners. That got me thinking. Is there a sweet spot for rod stiffness or am I overthinking this? What do you guys run for those nasty vertical drops through multiple floors?

Have you ever tried a fiberglass rod instead of steel for those tight fire stops? They flex different and won't shatter like the stiff ones will if you push too hard.

Man, that old sparky wasn't wrong. I had a similar panic moment last month fishing through a double fire stop in an old building and thought I was gonna lose the whole rod (and my lunch, honestly). I switched to a fiberglass rod after that and the difference on those tight bends is night and day. It flexes just enough to snake through without feeling like it's about to snap on you.
