Spent 40 minutes on a walrus, then the lady asked me why the box was so ugly
Had a rough one in Garland on Monday, three jobs back to back and the second house had a crawlspace so tight I had to army crawl through 30 feet of it with the drill in my teeth. Come back out covered in insulation and dust, and the homeowner just points at the cable box on the wall and says it looks ugly. Like, ma'am, I just saved you from a $200 rewire and you're worried about a plastic box? I zip tied everything clean, put the splitter on a stud, even labeled the lines for the next guy. Told her next time I can leave the box off and let the squirrels enjoy the signal, she laughed, I got a 5 star review. What's your go to line when a customer complains about the box before the work even starts?
My brother does stone work and had a lady in Plano ask him why the mortar lines weren't straighter before he'd even finished the first row. It's the same thing everywhere now, people rate the wrapping paper before they open the gift. You handled it right with the joke, that's usually the only thing that gets them to relax lol.
