Went fishing for a buried drop and found a 1987 time capsule

Last month I was locating a line under a driveway in Boise and my tone rod hit solid metal about two feet down, turned out to be a rusty coffee can full of old receipts and a pay stub from a cable company that no longer exists. I dug it out to check for damage, and the homeowner watched the whole thing from her kitchen window, then came out and said, "I wondered where that went, my ex-husband buried it after a fight in '87." Has anyone else unearthed something weird that was blocking a run, and do you rebury it or hand it over?

Used to figure anything buried on the job was fair game, but you just changed my mind. That can belongs to her story, not my truck.

Man, that can is not yours to keep, plain and simple. You hand it over and move on, digging up someone's drama doesn't give you a claim to it.
