Why does nobody talk about fishing a drop line through 30 feet of blown-in insulation
Two weeks back I took a job in an old farmhouse outside Ames and the wall was packed solid with blown-in cellulose, so my fish tape kept curling up on me. One side of me says just cut a bigger hole and patch it later, the other side says keep working the tape and save the drywall. I tried the tape alone for maybe 20 minutes, then gave up and ran a stiff pull rod with a magnet on the end, which got the line through in about 10 minutes. Whole thing ate up close to 2 hours when I planned on 30 minutes, mostly because I kept second guessing myself. So which is it, do you open up the wall or keep fighting it?
