A customer's snapshot changed how I clean viewfinders
Had a guy bring in an old Pentax K1000 last month complaining about fuzzy focus. I checked the lens, checked the mirror, everything looked okay to me. He showed me a photo he took with his phone, a closeup of the viewfinder, and I could see this faint film on the eyepiece I'd been missing for years. Switched from alcohol swabs to a dry microfiber first, then a drop of lens cleaner on a Q-tip, and now I check every viewfinder with a bright LED before I hand it back. Anyone else find that phone cameras are better than their eyes for spotting residue on glass?
