DAE blow $60 on a 'vintage' Canonet repair kit online and get nothing but junk?
So 4 months ago I grabbed this 'all in one' rangefinder fix kit off some site for $60, thinking I'd finally deal with the sticky shutter on my Canonet QL17. What showed up was a joke. The screwdrivers were softer than butter and stripped two of my screws right off the bat. The 'seal kit' was just a sheet of craft foam I could've got at Michaels for a buck. And the 'service manual' was a blurry PDF they clearly scanned off a forum. I wasted a whole Saturday in my garage trying to make it work and ended up cracking the front ring because the spanner tool bent on me. Now I got a busted Canonet sitting in a drawer and I'm out 60 bucks plus the cost of a replacement ring. Anyone got a real source for good tools that won't fall apart, or am I better off just buying a parts camera and swapping the whole lens block?
