Found out my old enlarger timer was 40 years off, who knew

I was going through a parts bin from a shop that closed in Dayton back in the 80s and found a GraLab timer. Out of curiosity I opened it up and the calibration pot was set so far off that a 10 second exposure would actually run about 14 seconds. That explains why some of those old prints had that muddy look. Has anyone else found factory parts that were just flat out wrong from the start?
