Had the worst repair day of my career last Tuesday
I took apart a Nikon F3 and found someone had superglued the mirror bumper foam. Took me 6 hours to clean that mess without scratching anything. Then a customer brought in a Canon AE-1 that smelled like a campfire and had ash inside the shutter mechanism. Has anyone else dealt with a camera that was clearly in a fire?

Heard about a guy who found a moldy lens from an estate sale... someone stored it in a barn for years with grain dust all over it. Took him weeks to clean just to sell it for fifty bucks.

Oh man, that is brutal. @paul330's story about the barn lens is tough but a fire-damaged camera is a whole other level of nightmare. I had a customer once bring in a Minolta that had been in a house fire and the smell alone stayed in my shop for weeks. The melted plastic had fused to the shutter blades, took me forever just to get it to fire once.
