Hand-cleaning a TLR mirror showed me why analog repair matters

My Yashica Mat had a foggy mirror. I polished the brass gears myself. It took forever but now it's perfect. Digital repairs just don't compare.

Actually, the brass gears are what makes the repair so satisfying. You're fixing something with real craft that'll last decades. That's a skill worth keeping alive.

That "skill worth keeping alive" part hits home. It's not just about fixing one clock. It's about understanding how things actually work from the ground up. That knowledge lets you fix modern stuff too, because you see the basic principles underneath all the plastic. We lose that when everything is just a sealed black box you throw away.
