Hit 500 shutter repairs last week and I'm still surprised
I cracked open my 500th shutter repair last Tuesday on a beat up old Pentax Spotmatic from a shop in Austin. Never thought I'd get that deep into leaf shutters and cloth curtains, but here we are. The weird part is I still get nervous opening up a Compur shutter for the first time on any given day. Anyone else keep a running count of specific repairs they've done?

Man, that's wild! It's like how I feel every time I start a new book by an author I've never read before, even if I've read a hundred others. You'd think the experience would make it easier but each one feels like its own little mystery box with hidden springs and traps inside. There's just something about that first peek into a mechanical thing that keeps you humble no matter how many times you've done it. I guess that's true for everything in life, not just shutter repairs.
