I chose re-cementing over replacing a stuck lens, no regrets
Had a 50mm f1.4 with a frozen focus ring last month, everyone said just swap the whole barrel. I went with dissolving the old helicoid grease with lighter fluid and re-lubing with dampening compound, took about 3 hours in my shop. Ring moves smooth now with zero play, cost me $12 in materials instead of the $90 part. Anyone else ever try reviving a seized lens instead of swapping parts, how did it hold up after a year?

Didn't think grease was the fix, but now I'm a believer.
