Serious question, I was cleaning shutter blades wrong for years

I always used a cotton swab with a bit of lighter fluid, but a repair video from a guy in Tokyo showed him holding the blade with tweezers and wiping with a microfiber cloth instead. That made me realize I was just pushing grit around and scratching the surface. How do you guys handle shutter blade cleaning without causing damage?

Read a camera repair guide that said compressed air first, then a soft brush.

Actually, you want to brush first to loosen debris, then blow it away with the air.

Tbh that guide is backwards, I learned the hard way blowing dust deeper into the lens mount.

My old cotton swab method probably created more problems than it solved.
