That 1987 Canon New F-1 took a 3 foot drop at a wedding last Saturday and only lost its hot shoe cover

I charged the bride $45 for a CLA on it back in March, but when I opened it up the mirror bumper was just crumbled dust and the shutter speeds were all half a stop slow, so tell me, has anyone else seen these old F-1s hold up better than a modern plastic body in a real fall, or was I just lucky?
