That $45 focusing screen tool beat my whole spanner drawer
For years I kept a full set of adjustable wrenches for lens ring jobs, figured bigger was better. Then last Tuesday I was holding a helicoid together with one hand while the other searched for a 4mm spanner that had slid under the bench for the third time. A buddy who does clock work told me to just grind down a cheap open-end wrench to the exact thickness for the lock nut slot. I tried it on a stuck Pentax 50mm and it grabbed perfectly with no flex. Now I have three dedicated thin wrenches for the common filter thread sizes and the adjustables only come out for oddball stuff. Anyone else found a niche tool that replaced a whole drawer of junk?
