That sticky shutter button on the Canon AE-1 took me 3 days to track down
Spent most of last Tuesday in my shop in Portland trying to fix a shutter that kept firing on its own. Turns out it wasn't the magnet or the circuit board, it was a tiny bit of dried juice under the release switch, probably from some old leaky battery. After 3 days and 6 test rolls, I finally cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and it's been perfect since. Anyone else ever chased a stupid intermittent issue like that only to find it was something ridiculous?

Hold on, dried juice from a battery is way more common than you think, but that's not really "dried juice", it's just corrosion from the battery leaking. Glad the alcohol fixed it though, those gremlins are the worst.
