That time I rebuilt a Pentax Spotmatic shutter vs a Canon FTb - night and day difference
Was working on two classic SLRs last month, a Pentax Spotmatic and a Canon FTb, both with stuck shutters. The Pentax had those cloth curtains that take forever to tension right, but the Canon's metal Copal square shutter was way more straightforward to get firing again. Has anyone else noticed certain brands just have better service design, or am I just getting lucky with the Canon stuff?

Figure the Pentax was designed for precision while Canon just wanted a shutter that worked.

That old K1000 I had felt like you were operating a fine instrument, every click and turn had a purpose. Canon was always about making a reliable tool that just got the job done, no fuss.
