Vent: Speeding through a lens fix messed up my week
I stopped taking breaks between repairs to finish faster, but then I installed a focus ring backwards on a customer's camera. Had to apologize and redo the whole job for free, which sucked lol. How do you remind yourself to slow down and check your work?

Force yourself to take a five-minute break after each step, even if you think you don't need it. I learned this after mixing up parts in a console repair and having to start over from scratch. Now I keep a basic checklist on my bench and physically check off each thing before moving on. It feels silly at first, but it beats doing the job twice for free, that's for sure.

That checklist idea is solid, I do something similar now after rushing a lens recalibration last month. Forgot to fully tighten three screws on the aperture assembly and the whole thing rattled loose inside the barrel, had to tear it down again lol. Setting my phone timer for a two-minute pause before the final assembly saved me so many times since.
