Bought a $200 inflatable kayak, got a free swim lesson instead
Last summer I saw a deal on Facebook for an off-brand inflatable kayak and figured it was a steal. Took it out on Lake Lanier and the seam split right down the middle about 20 minutes in. I lost the $200 plus my phone when it slipped out of my pocket during the scramble to shore. Anyone else get burned by a too-good-to-be-true paddling deal, or have a brand that's actually held up for them?

Lake Lanier is no joke, my buddy lost a $30 pool float there once and we never saw it again. My own cheap kayak story ended with me doing the breaststroke back to shore with a paddle in one hand and my dignity somewhere at the bottom. I swear every time I see a $200 inflatable now I just picture it as a fancy pool toy with a warranty claim built in. That seam split sounds exactly like something I'd do, right down to the phone sacrifice. Now I just rent from the marina and call it a lesson fee.
