Changed my mind about using a tarp under my tent in the desert

Always thought it was pointless until a ranger in Moab told me it's not for moisture, it protects the tent floor from sharp rocks. Anyone have a better groundsheet material that doesn't get slick?

Made that same mistake last year in Joshua Tree. Woke up on a slope and my whole tent just slid off the tarp like it was on a slip-n-slide. Spent the morning chasing my gear down a hill. I've heard some people cut up old vinyl banners or use Tyvek house wrap, but I just use a cheap blue one and poke a bunch of little holes in it for grip.

Honestly @ryan653, I've seen people use that rubbery shelf liner stuff under their tent too. It's super grippy and you can cut it to size.
