Freeze-dried eggs in a scramble were gross until I added a spoon of bacon grease

Tried them on a 3-day trip near Flagstaff last month, they tasted like cardboard with powder, but mixing in bacon fat from breakfast made them actually edible, anyone else found a fix for mountain meals that turn out bland?

Tbh, I've been there with those freeze-dried scrambles, they're straight up sad without a fat upgrade. Bacon grease is the move, but so is a little powdered cheese, like the stuff from mac and cheese packets, it adds salt and richness. Also, try rehydrating the eggs with hot water instead of cold, it makes them less gritty. And if you're really desperate, a squirt of hot sauce can hide almost any weird texture. Honestly, once you start treating mountain meals like a base to fix up, they get way more tolerable.
