Hot take: I finally realized why my tent always got swampy

For like 5 years I was setting up my tent in a little valley by the creek thinking I was getting the best spot with soft ground and a nice view. Then last summer I woke up covered in condensation, gear dripping wet, and a guy from the next site over asked if I ever thought about airflow and ground slope. He was basically saying I was camping in the coldest, dampest pocket possible. Has anyone else been setting up in these low spots and blaming the tent instead of their own site choice?

Wait so were you literally in a creek bed or just near one?

Oh man, "literally in a creek bed" got me. I was walking with my cousin along this dried up creek in West Virginia and we both just slid right into it, mud up to our knees and everything. It was slippery as hell but honestly kind of fun once you stop being mad about your shoes.
