I finally tried that old timer's trick about sleeping with your head lower than your feet on a slope

Guy at a campground in the Smokies told me to do this to stop sliding down my tent at night, and I thought he was joking. After three nights of waking up in a ball at the bottom of my bag, I gave it a shot and it actually worked. Anybody else had weird camp setup advice that turned out to be right?

The Amy's point about body type makes a lot of sense, sleeping on a slope definitely isn't a one-size-fits-all fix. Maybe putting your pack under the foot of your sleeping pad to create a slight angle instead of a full head-down tilt would help. Could be a middle ground for people who slide but don't want to risk ending up with a wrecked back.

Oh man I gotta say I tried this exact thing once and it made my back hurt so bad I couldn't walk right for two days. I think it really depends on what kind of sleeper you are because my hips were screaming at me by morning. I woke up with my neck all twisted too like I slept on a pile of rocks. Maybe it works for some people but def not for me.
