Shoutout to the guy at the trailhead who convinced me to pack my rain shell
I was leaving it behind for a quick overnight near Bend, but he said the forecast was a total lie. Got hit with a solid hour of cold drizzle at sunset and that jacket saved the trip. Anyone else have a piece of gear they almost didn't bring that turned out to be a lifesaver?

That "forecast was a total lie" line is so real. I've noticed it's the small, easy-to-ditch items that always end up mattering most. For me, it was a tiny headlamp I threw in at the last minute when my main one died right as I was setting up camp in the dark.

Ugh, my buddy once brought a cheap poncho on a whim and it saved his whole pack from a surprise downpour.
