This past weekend at Lake Tahoe finally clicked for me

I have been camping for about 5 years now, but last Saturday was the first time I set up my tent in under 10 minutes without any help. It was at the Fallen Leaf Lake campground near South Lake Tahoe. The weather was perfect, no wind at all, and I even got my campfire going with just one match. Has anyone else had a day where everything just goes right like that?

That one match thing really grabs me, because I had a similar moment at Yosemite last fall where I got my fire going with wet wood and a single strike. It was like the universe decided to give me a break after years of fighting damp matches and smoky kindling. Makes you wonder if those perfect days are just luck or if we're finally learning something.

Right up until you're standing there looking at a wet pile of sticks and it catches on the first try, @lindaw29, I'm convinced it's just the universe getting bored and messing with us. Like, "oh you've been cold and annoyed for twelve straight camping trips? Here's your one magic spark so you keep doing this." Probably just random heat and a dry pocket in the wood, but I'll take the win and pretend I've finally figured it out.
