Unpopular take: that 'leave no trace' obsession is over-the-top

Last trip at Yosemite I spent 2 hours trying to bury my campfire ashes exactly 6 inches deep, but the ground was so rocky I just gave up and scattered them wide - nobody noticed. Why do we act like a few visible ashes ruins the whole wilderness experience?

Hold up, you spent two whole hours on that?

and honestly that's kind of the whole problem these days right? nobody gives themselves time to actually get into something. like you sit down to do a task and if it takes more than 20 minutes people act like you wasted your whole day. i've noticed this with everything from cooking to reading a book to even just having a real conversation with someone - everyone's in such a rush to be done with stuff that they miss out on actually enjoying it. two hours is nothing for something that matters.
