Why does nobody talk about how rain ruins ultralight tents?

Last month I was out at Big Bend National Park. Forecast said clear skies, so I brought my fancy 2-pound tent. 3 AM rolls around and a storm hits. Water was seeping through the floor by 4. My buddy with a cheap 8-pound Coleman stayed bone dry. All these gear reviews hype up weight savings but never mention how they fail in real weather. Has anyone else gotten soaked by an expensive tent?

Same thing happened to me in the Everglades. Woke up in a puddle.

Waking up in a puddle sounds more like a bad hangover than some nature horror story. You sure you didn't just pass out after too many beers by the campfire? I've done that before and it's nothing special.
