Honestly, I'm still mad about that $60 'ultra-compact' camping stove that melted its own pot supports after one weekend in the Smokies.
Tbh, I should've known a stove that light was too good to be true, but now I'm stuck boiling water over a fire like it's 1823, so has anyone found a reliable lightweight stove that actually holds up?

PocketRocket 2 is solid, but the newer PocketRocket Deluxe has a better simmer control. Worth the few extra grams if you cook more than just water.

Ugh, that's the worst. I had a tiny titanium thing fold in on itself like a cheap lawn chair. Swore off the super ultralight stuff after that. My fix was just getting a simple MSR PocketRocket 2. It's not the absolute lightest, but the metal feels solid, and mine's been through three seasons now with zero drama. Boils water fast and just sits there doing its job. Sometimes boring and reliable is what you actually need.
