My $12 tarp repair kit saved a rainy weekend in Olympic National Park

Last month I got caught in a downpour at a campsite near Forks and my old rain fly ripped right down the seam at 11pm. I had a cheap patch kit with seam sealer and a spare stake that I'd thrown in my pack years ago, and it held up for the whole trip. Anyone else swear by a basic repair kit that never gets used until it's suddenly the most important thing you own?
