Rant: Setting up my new 4-person tent in the backyard took 3 hours

I got a new tent for a trip to the Smokies and wanted to do a practice run, but the instructions were just pictures with no words and one pole sleeve was sewn shut. I spent over an hour just trying to figure out which pole went where before I realized I had to cut a tiny thread. Has anyone else had a tent come with a factory defect like that?

Remember that time a car company had to recall a million vehicles because the airbags were basically tiny grenades. Or when a food plant's "secret sauce" turned out to be a batch of listeria. These aren't just small mess ups. They're the kind of massive, system wide failures that cost billions and make you wonder who's actually checking the work. It's a special kind of corporate blindness.
