Remember when everyone said you needed a massive 0-degree bag for Colorado?
A guide in Telluride told me I was carrying too much insulation for summer and to switch to a 40-degree quilt. Has anyone else switched to quilts and found they sleep better?

Ever try sleeping under just a tarp when the stars are out? Woke up with frost on my face once.

That "too much insulation" advice sounds risky. A sudden cold snap or high altitude wind can make a 40-degree quilt feel real bad real fast. I'd rather carry a few extra ounces and actually sleep.
