Saw a guy trying to dry his tent with a campfire last weekend at Yosemite
I was sitting at my site near Curry Village when this guy rolls up with a brand new tent that was soaked from morning dew. He literally draped it over some rocks right next to his fire ring and started poking at it with a stick. I walked over and told him he'd melt the seam tape and ruin it. He looked at me like I was crazy. I've seen so many people do this over the past 5 years of camping and it always ends the same way. Why do folks think heat from a fire is the answer instead of just letting it air dry or wiping it down with a towel? Anyone else run into this at their campground?

Fire absolutely works if you know what you're doing and keep it far enough back.

My buddy did this with his tent near Tahoe and ended up with a melted rainfly that looked like a melted trash bag. He was SO mad, but I couldn't stop laughing.
