That guy at REI who told me my tent was "wrong" still bothers me 2 years later

Used to be the type who thought any advice from a store employee was just trying to upsell me. Then I had a guy at a climbing shop basically tell me my harness was dangerous. Got defensive at first but looked it up later and he was totally right. Some of those people actually know what they're talking about. Still think about it whenever I buy gear now.

Girl wait, your harness was actually DANGEROUS? Like, the one thing keeping you from becoming a pancake on the ground? That is genuinely terrifying to think about lmao. I would have gotten defensive too honestly, nobody wants to hear their safety gear is trash when they're standing in a store. But that's wild that he caught it before you went climbing with it again. Definitely one of those moments where you gotta eat crow and be grateful the employee cared enough to speak up.
