TIL my old camp stove has cooked over 500 freeze-dried meals

I was cleaning out my gear closet and found the logbook I kept for a while, you know, just for fun. I added up all the little tallies from my trips over the last eight years. That basic little two-burner stove I got on sale for $80 has seen some serious action. It's been to Yosemite, the Smokies, and a bunch of state parks. It's kind of wild to think about all those breakfast scrambles and pasta sides. Has anyone else ever tracked how much use they've gotten out of a single piece of gear?

Yeah, I started doing that with my old backpack. I put a little mark on the inside tag for every overnight trip. It's a good reality check when you're thinking about buying new gear, you know? That thing has way more life left than I gave it credit for. Makes you appreciate the simple stuff that just works trip after trip.

Try marking your gear with a pen instead.
