I was dead set against using a virtual CFO until last month
I run a small SaaS out of Kitchener and always thought virtual CFOs were just for companies raising millions. My accountant suggested one after I messed up my Q2 projections by 40k. I hired a guy from a firm called Finstack for $2,000 a month. He found three tax credits I was missing and fixed my cash flow model in a week. Has anyone else switched from a traditional accountant to a virtual CFO?

Wait, does anyone else think the term "virtual" makes it sound less legit? I had my own weird experience with this stuff. A buddy of mine in Ottawa runs a tiny bakery and he hired a virtual bookkeeper off of Upwork. Turned out the guy was just copying numbers from last year's files and changing the dates. His tax guy caught it before anything bad happened but man it was a mess. So when you say you found a good one that actually finds credits and fixes models that's like finding a unicorn honestly.

Check references and ask for a local CPA license number.
