That 'pivot now' advice from a Toronto VC cost us our best client
Two years ago a partner at a Bay Street firm told us to drop our niche logistics tool and chase the AI wave, but the three companies we lost in the six months after that pivot are proof that sticking to what pays the rent beats chasing what's trendy, so has anyone else ignored loud investor pressure and regretted it or ended up ahead?

Sticking to what pays the rent" is the line that hit me. Investors talk in hockey stick graphs, not payroll. We ignored a similar push to chase an AI thing and instead doubled down on the boring warehouse software nobody gets excited about. Three years later, that same VC firm is circling back asking if we want to talk about their new fund. Funny how the rent always wins.
