TIL a VC in Toronto told me our burn rate was 'too healthy' and now I'm second-guessing everything

Had coffee with a partner at a Toronto firm last Tuesday and he said slow, steady growth makes us look like a lifestyle business, not a startup, which hit different because we just hit $50k MRR with zero outside cash and now I'm wondering if we're building something real or just a small company, has anyone else had an investor flip their narrative like that?

Ha! Classic VC brain. They can't model a company that isn't burning cash, so they call it a hobby. Sounds like you built a real business and he's just mad he can't get a cheap slice of it.
