Blew $280 on a car capsule for my Civic, and now it's basically a $280 balloon I fight with every October
So back in 2023 I bought one of those inflatable bubble car capsules for my 2004 Civic that I keep parked for winter on the side of my place in Boise. I saw a guy online raving about his and figured why not, 280 bucks and I never have to worry about dust or moisture again. First problem, the thing takes 15 minutes to blow up with the little included pump and it sounds like a dying hair dryer the whole time. Second problem, Boise gets wind and that capsule turned into a giant tumbling dryer ball in my driveway twice before I staked it down with ratchet straps. Third problem, and this is the big one, the zipper froze shut in January and I had to thaw it with a hairdryer extension cord run out the garage door at 6 am just to check on a battery tender. Underneath all that plastic the car still sweated a little on the cold nights, so I'm not even sure the thing did what it claimed. My neighbor just puts a cheap cotton cover on his Mustang and his paint looks fine, so tell me straight, is anyone actually happy with these capsule things or did I just buy a very expensive wind sock?
