Bought a $140 car cover for my stored Miata and it scratched the paint after 6 weeks
Pulled the cover off my 1999 Miata in the garage last Saturday and found a mess. The inside lining had trapped grit from a dusty spring, and every gust that got under the cover rubbed it around like sandpaper. Six weeks of storage cost me about $400 in paint correction at a shop in Bakersfield. The cover itself was $140, so I'm out $540 total for trying to keep dust off. The straps also left faint marks on the rear quarters. Has anyone had luck with a softer indoor cover or should I just skip covers and wax the car before storage?
