Went with the dirt floor shed over the concrete pad and now I'm kicking myself every time it rains
When I needed to park my 1971 Chevy C10 for the winter, I had to pick between pouring a $3,400 concrete pad in my backyard or just parking it on the dirt floor of my uncle's old shed out in Modesto. I picked the shed to save money, and now the tires are sunk in mud, the frame has surface rust creeping up from the bottom, and I can't even get the jack under it properly. Did I mess up trying to be cheap, or is there a way to make a dirt floor work without dumping cash into it now?
Saw a forum thread where a guy put down a couple layers of that woven geotextile fabric plus crushed gravel over his dirt floor and it held up way better than bare dirt. Might be worth trying before you give up on the shed.
