Found out my resume font was literally hurting my chances in Austin
I've been applying to jobs in Austin for 6 months and getting almost no callbacks. Last week I ran my resume through a free ATS scanner online, the kind that shows how a bot reads it. Turns out I was using a two column layout with a serif font, and the system was jumbling my job dates and skills into nonsense. It showed me a raw text version of my resume and it looked like alphabet soup. I switched to a single column with a simple sans serif font and rewrote my bullet points to match the job postings exactly. Within 4 days I got two interview requests. Anyone else ever had an ATS quietly destroy their resume without knowing it?
