Had to pick between a big raise at my current job or a new role with better training.

My boss offered me a 15% pay bump to stay, but the other company in Austin promised a 6-month mentorship program. I took the new job for the skills, and it totally paid off after the first year. Anyone else faced a choice like that between cash now or growth later?

Totally get choosing the training path. Made a similar call early in my career, taking a lower-paying assistant job that taught me project management. Those skills ended up being way more valuable long-term than a quick pay bump would have been. What was the mentorship program like for you?

My husband made a similar choice years back. He turned down a supervisor spot to take a night class in computer programming. It was a tough call with two kids at home. That single class led to a whole new career path he never saw coming. Sometimes the short-term money just can't match a real chance to learn.
