Had to pick between a safe job offer and a risky freelance path

Six months ago, I got a full-time job offer with benefits at a big pet store chain, but also had a chance to go full freelance as a dog groomer. I picked the freelance route, even though the first month I only had 8 clients. It was scary turning down that steady paycheck. But I kept at it, got some regulars, and this week I booked 22 appointments, which is a record for me. Has anyone else made a jump like that and found it got better after a rough start?

Took a similar leap into freelance web stuff a while back. My first client paid me in a case of energy drinks and a vague promise of more work. Thought I'd made the worst mistake of my life for about three months. Then things slowly clicked, just like you said. Now the idea of a set schedule sounds more terrifying than a blank calendar.

Sounds like a real nail-biter of a career choice.

Guess my fear of a steady paycheck is stronger than my fear of failure.
