Hidden LinkedIn stat that changed my job hunt strategy

I was digging through LinkedIn's analytics last week for my profile and found out recruiters spend an average of 7 seconds scanning your profile before deciding to click or move on. That stat came from LinkedIn's own data page, I think it was under the "How recruiters see you" section. Once I realized that, I totally redid my headline and summary to hit the keywords for my field in the first sentence. My profile views went from about 12 per week to 47 after I made those changes. Has anyone else noticed a big jump by tweaking small things like that?

Wait, 7 seconds?? That's insane. I knew recruiters moved fast but that stat is genuinely horrifying to think about. Like holy crap, you spend hours crafting a resume and perfecting your experience section and they glance at it for less time than it takes to microwave a hot pocket. I'm honestly surprised they even click at all. That keyword thing makes total sense though, you basically have to trick them into stopping.

Ha! @lisa_wilson87 you're thinking about it backwards - maybe recruiters are just really good at spotting the wrong fit fast.
