I finally looked up how many people actually use their degree, and the number floored me
I read a report from the Federal Reserve last week that said only 27% of college grads work in a job related to their major. I check IDs at the firehouse and half the guys on my shift have degrees they never touched again, one guy has a finance degree from Ohio State and he drives the ladder truck. So all that pressure to pick the right major at 18 feels like a scam. Did you end up using yours, or is it just a fancy piece of paper in a drawer somewhere?
Yeah I feel that, I got a history degree and now I sell insurance. My diploma is somewhere in a box in the garage, probably next to old phone chargers. You spend four years stressing about a major and the job market just does whatever it wants anyway.
