I was looking at some old job ads from 2010 and the pay difference is wild
I was cleaning out a folder and found a printout for a marketing coordinator job I applied to back in 2010. The salary was listed at $38,000. Out of curiosity, I looked up a similar role on a job board today. The average is now around $55,000. I know inflation is a thing, but seeing the actual numbers side by side really hit me. How do you even figure out what a fair salary is for an older job title now?

Actually, that $38k in 2010 is about $54k today... so the pay hasn't really changed.

But what about the cost of everything else? Housing and healthcare have gone up way more than that. Just matching inflation doesn't mean buying power is the same.

Notice how every store is selling smaller packages for the same price now, so even if wages barely keep up with the official number, the actual stuff you can buy keeps shrinking.
