My old boss called my weekly reports junk mail, and he was right
I used to start every status update with a paragraph about what my team did that day, and after 6 months my manager, Dave, asked me to cut it down to 3 bullet points max. At first I thought he was just skimming, but then he showed me his inbox and I saw I was sending these 400 word walls nobody could read. Now I lead with the one number that matters and put everything else below it, and people actually reply to my emails. Has anyone else had a boss straight up tell them their writing was too long?
