Office jobs vs trade work - I tried both and trades win hands down
Spent 6 years in a cubicle at an insurance company in Columbus before I quit to become an electrician. The office had me staring at spreadsheets for 9 hours a day, gaining weight, and feeling dead inside. Trades work is harder on the body but way better for your head. I actually see results at the end of each day - wires connected, lights working, problems solved. The pay is better too once you get licensed, I went from $38k to $58k in 3 years. Plus nobody calls you at 10pm about a spreadsheet error. Has anyone else made the jump from desk job to hands on work?

Saw a documentary once that said trades actually give better retirement outcomes in the long run.

Yeah that documentary nailed it. My pension from the trades beats most desk jobs I know.
