Pro tip: asking my manager for a 15 min weekly check in got me a raise in 4 months
Three years ago I was stuck at the same pay doing the same tasks and getting zero feedback. So I started asking my manager at Cornerstone Logistics for a quick 15 minute chat every Friday, just to go over what I did that week and what I wanted to learn next. Four months later she put me up for a lead role and I got a $6,000 bump. Anyone else tried setting up regular check ins like that, or did it backfire on you?

A $6,000 bump from 15 minute chats sounds nice but I gotta ask, was it the check ins or was it something else? Like maybe your company just happened to have a lead spot open and you were next in line anyway. I've seen people do the whole weekly meeting thing and get told "keep it up" for a year straight with nothing to show for it. Some managers just nod along and never actually do anything with what you tell them. Curious how much of this was the meetings and how much was just good timing.
